Poland is greatly blessed by nature with an incredibly wide variety of attractive and unsullied landscapes:
- the romantic seaside of the Baltic Sea in the north,
- several most picturesque lakeside regions,
- scenic lowlands and green rolling uplands.
Towards the southern border the terrain gradually rises to meet the beautiful and geographically diversified mountain ranges, including the most magnificent and impressive, alpine - like Tatra Mountains in the middle. There is even a small area of desert.
Another face of Poland is its rich cultural heritage: there are probably as many historic buildings and architectural monuments as nature peculiarities.
As a matter of fact, the country had long been unknown to the rest of the world due to the isolation imposed by the former Soviet Union. Now, it's been more than a decade since Poland gained its sovereignty, entered the world of capitalism and started to attract more and more tourists from all over the world. Nevertheless, there is still very little knowledge and notion about Poland in most of other countries.
